FREDERIEKE SAEIJS - VIOLIN
Frederieke Saeijs (1979) started to play the violin at
age seven with Suzuki teacher Stieneke Voorhoeve-Poot.
In 1992 she entered the Special Class for Young Gifted
Musicians at the Royal Conservatory (The Hague, The Netherlands).
After finishing the Gymnasium in 1998 Frederieke was fully
admitted to the Royal Conservatory, where she studied
with Lex Korff de Gidts, Peter Brunt and Jaring Walta.
There she received both the Bachelor Diploma (May 2002)
and the Master Diploma (May 2004) with distinction for
creative musicality. At the moment Frederieke studies
with Mauricio Fuks at the Bloomington Jacobs School of
Music (Indiana, USA), thanks to scholarships by the Jacobs
School of Music, Stichting Studie Oskar Back, Prins Bernard
Cultuurfonds and the Nuffic.
Frederieke has won several prizes:
-3rd prize at the Iordens Violin
Days (1992);
-1st prizes at the Princess Christina Competition
(1995, 1998);
-Vriendenkrans Award of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam,
The Netherlands (2001);
-2nd prize Elisabeth Back at the National Violin
Competition Oskar Back (2001);
-Elisabeth Everts Award (2002);
-3rd prize and special prize Remember Enescu at
the International George Enescu Violin Competition
in Buchuresti, Roumania (2003);
-1st prize at the Grachtenfestival Conservatory
Competition (2004);
-1st Grand Price, Albert II de Monaco Price, Nicole
Henriot-Schweitzer Price, Price of the students
of the conservatories, Price of the Orchestre National
de France at the Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud
International Violin Competition in Paris, France
(2005).
As a result of this competition Frederieke will
perform in France, Japan, Germany, Italy, Scotland,
Switzerland, Russia and the USA. |
Frederieke has had master classes with: Herman Krebbers,
Theo Olof, Isabelle van Keulen, Jaime Laredo, Viktor Liberman,
Boris Kuschnir, Gerhard Schulz, Thomas Brandis, Rainer
Kussmaul, Detlev Hahn, David Takeno and Lorand Fenyves.
She has also studied with Mister Fuks during summer courses
in Sarasota (Florida), Orford (Canada), Salzburg (Austria)
and Villefavard (France).
As a soloist Frederieke Saeijs appeared with the Atheneum
Chamber Orchestra, Bellitoni Symphony Orchestra, Chamber
Orchestra of the Netherlands, Orchestre National de France,
New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic
Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra of the Dutch Royal
Conservatory.
Frederieke plays recitals with pianists Maurice Lammerts
van Bueren and Jeannette Koekkoek.
From 2001-2004 Frederieke formed a piano trio in The Netherlands,
Trio Suleika, together with pianist Maurice Lammerts van
Bueren and cellist Pepijn Meeuws. Trio Suleika has won
several awards during the Vriendenkrans Competition of
the Concertgebouw in 2002. The trio has had master classes
with Menahem Pressler, Peter Brunt, Colin Carr, Pascal
Devoyon and Philippe Graffin. Trio Suleika received scholarships
from the Bernard Haitink Foundation and the Kersjes- Van
de Groenekan Fund. Some of its performances were broadcasted
on the Dutch radio.
As a concertmaster Frederieke has played in the Residentie
Orchestra of The Hague, Atheneum Chamber Orchestra, Chamber
Orchestra of the Indiana University, National Youth Orchestra
of The Netherlands and the Symphony Orchestra of the Dutch
Royal Conservatory. |
