JEANNETTE KOEKKOEK - PIANO

"I want to move the listener with my playing. Whether they love it or hate it or get upset, what is most important to me is that they feel and have a meaningful experience." Such is the mission of internationally renowned pianist and pedagogue Jeannette Koekkoek. Drawing on her gifts as a powerful communicator with a special emphasis on intuition and conveying clarity of artistic vision, Ms. Koekkoek's talents have been widely in demand throughout Europe and in the United States. Misha Dichter proclaimed Ms. Koekkoek "a fireball, a natural pianist." Kees Boeke, Professor Early Music at the Hochschule for Musik in Zurich, Switzerland, states, "I would describe her playing as analytical, transparent, and exquisitely chamber-music oriented." Indebted to her teachers, the illustrious Aube Tzerko and MenahemPressler in Los Angeles and Bloomington and Jan Wijn at the Amsterdam Sweelinck Conservatory, she executes the solo and chamber music repertoire with equal passion and integrity. Fulfilling her vision and flare for collaborative relationships, Jeannette Koekkoek co-founded the Netherlands Piano Quartet, the Sagee Piano Trio, the Trompenberg Ensemble, and the Koekkoek-Schatborn Duo. She has appeared as featured artist with ensembles as the Fine Arts Quartet, the Penderecki Quartet, the Biava Quartet and the Amsterdam Chamber Music Society and has teamed as recital partner with instrumentalists as Janine Jansen, Alexander Kerr, Atar Arad, Judith Serkin, Godfried Hoogeveen and soprano Jill Feldman. As a solo recitalist, she has appeared in the Netherlands, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, in Aspen, Colorado, USA, as well as on the Dutch Radio Network, France Inter and American stations. She is a regular guest in festivals in the USA and Europe. With Sarah Kapustin she has performed internationally and will be recording for the German broadcasting system shortly. Included among her many awards are the Laureate Tromp International Music Competition, The International Piano Competition in Zaragoza, Spain (with special mention for her interpretation of Spanish repertoire) and the Annual award of the w and Concertgebouw Award. Jeannette Koekkoek's depth and range as an artist is extended to her commitment to teaching: "I want to challenge students to stimulate self-knowledge and artistic truth. From the recognition and acceptance of who they are, they can grow to a higher level as a musician and person". Based near Arezzo, Italy, she has established the International Music Academy in Tuscany (www.imatuscany.com), engaging in intensive coaching or teaching programs for performing soloists, conservatory students, teachers and advanced amateurs, as individualists or chamber music ensembles. Early in her career she devoted her energies to the development of young talent, working with acclaimed violin pedagogue Coosje Wijzenbeek in the Netherlands; she is a longtime faculty member of the String Academy of Indiana University in Bloomington, USA, collaborating intensively with Professor Mimi Zweig (www.stringpedagogy.com). Ms Koekkoek has made numerous recordings (www.jeannettekoekkoek.com), most recently with soprano Jill Feldman, an album with songs by Charles Ives (www.o-livemusic.com).
