MARIJN VAN PROOIJEN
Marijn van Prooijen has played the double bass since 1992, concentrating on both jazz and classical music equally right from the start to develop as a player not just in depth but breadth. Since graduating in 2002 from the Royal Conservatory of the Hague, where he studied with Quirijn van Regteren Altena and Knut Guettler, he has continued to expand his skills by alongside performing professionally, also arranging and composing his own works.
A modest selection from various ensembles, artists and orchestras Marijn has worked with include Holland Festival, Cristina Branco, Amsterdam Sinfonietta, Residentie Orkest, Radio Filharmonisch Orkest Holland, Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchester etc. etc
A result of which is he has contributed to many recordings and has toured throughout Europe and Australia.
As an arranger of music he is enjoying getting an increasing amount of work from such groups as Amsterdam Sinfonietta and the Ricciotti Ensemble, and also directed and wrote the arrangements for the jazz concerts of 2004 and 2005 in Barberino val d'Elsa. These achievements show the gradual realisation of a boyhood dream to school himself in composition.
