VICKY WRIGHT - CLARINET
With broad musical interests, clarinettist Vicky Wright has played with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, toured North America with Roger Daltrey, was the 'Thames Valley Young Musician of the Year' and was winner of the Continuum Ensemble's Improvisation Competition. She has worked with the groups Lontano and Apartment House and as a chamber musician she is artistic director of the Tate Ensemble and a member of Ensemble Plus-Minus. Performances include the Aldeburgh, Newbury, Bath, Cambridge and Huddersfield Festivals, London's 'Cutting Edge' series, the Wigmore Hall,; and internationally in festivals in Bremen, Germany; Stanford University-San Francisco; Bergen and Oslo, Norway; Leuven, Belgium; Carrick-on-Shannon, Ireland and the Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall, New York. Vicky works regularly with pianist Eva Doroszkowska, with whom she has traveled extensively with P&O world cruises and Saga cruises. She has recorded for the Lorelt and Metier labels, has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 'In Tune' and 'Hear and Now', appeared on BBC 2's 'The Culture Show' and played music for the long running television program 'Last of the Summer Wine'. Recent projects include a performance in the National Portrait Gallery with actor/singer Peter Willcock and a music theatre performance in Wilton's Music Hall for the Spitalfields Festival. She is also a member of the Wigmore Hall's new 'Creative Ensemble', which leads its education projects. Vicky studied at the Royal Academy of Music, London where she was awarded numerous prizes and at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. |
