Situated between Florence and Siena, Linari is a medieval hilltop "Borgo" in the Chianti Classico area, one of the most enchanting parts of Tuscany.
The first festival was held here in the summer of 2003 at the initiative of Airdrie Armstrong Terenghi, organizer and artistic director working with Joris van Rijn, music director.
There are around ten concerts every summer, with programmes ranging from Early to Contemporary classic music.
These are performed by highly professional young musicians who come from far and wide for the sheer joy of playing in such beautiful settings.
Venues include the picturesque old local churches of Santo Stefano and Sant' Appiano, castles,
private villas and an open air setting in the square of Barberino val d'Elsa.
These concerts are mostly followed by dinners which are a sought after social occasion and an opportunity to meet the musicians, which gives the Festival its unique character
